"...John Taylor Hospice ...will be handed more than £400,000 to revamp its day hospice and improve access to its chapel and multi-faith room.

... Marie Ballard hailed the cash injection, coming from a £40 million Department of Health kitty, saying: "This funding is very good news for everyone connected with John Taylor Hospice.

"The original Victorian building has been added to over the years.

"But the current project will drastically improve the facilities, providing more space and better access for elderly patients and those in wheelchairs and with walking frames.

"While this is an exciting opportunity to make the hospice more patient-friendly, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum by re-housing the day hospice in another part of the building."

The Hospice's League of Friends will help with cash for the biggest scheme, the construction of a glass roof over the centre's courtyard to make it the focal point of the day unit.

Complementary therapy will be improved, with a small room dedicated to reiki and aromatherapy treatments.

The work is due to start in late November and take around four months to complete."

Christmas Cards (YES Christmas!)

As a  small charity, the sourcing and sales of Christmas cards has been a bit of a headache. This year, we have some professional assistance from Pam Cherry of Sutton Coldfield - and we are launching a new pre-packed range. The designs are attached. Order forms will be available shortly.

Companies will also be able to select from a larger range online from 1st June and have them personalised to their requirements. All profits will go to the Hospice.
