Santa Cycle

Father Christmas pedalled into Perry Common yesterday to help residents gear up for Christmas with a little help from Bike North Birmingham.

Santa rode up to Witton Lodge Community Association’s Christmas craft fayre and lights switch on at Perry Common Community Hall aboard a special cargo tricycle, accompanied by cycle-bound elves selected from schools around the local area.

The entourage also turned to pedal power to ensure Santa’s grotto sparkled throughout the event, with adults and children saddling up to use a special pedal-operated generator that powered the lighting.

Santa’s Cycle Express is part of Bike North Birmingham’s community outreach  activities, which aim to make cycling more accessible and get more people cycling more of the time, giving them an alternative option to car travel that is fun, healthier and cheaper.
